Pivots for doors

In 2020 Ainsworth & Woodcock were given the task of manufacturing a set of pivots for a bank of sliding and stacking doors.  Each door weighed in excess of 180kgs as they were of a steel core construction overclad with bronze sheet metal and glazed with toughened security glass.

Similar systems had been on the market previously, but not in the right material or designed to support the weight of such heavy doors.   Through a process of design investigations, proto type and trial parts, Ainsworth & Woodcock produced over 200 parts for the 24 sets of hinges required for the project, including brass, stainless steel and nylon parts with tight tolerance fitting to ensure reliable actuations and smooth operation.
